This Matrix is a simple (yet comprehensive) decision matrix that shows you the best Idea Generation and/or Problem Solving Tools for a variety of common corporate technical situations that call for “Innovation or Inventive Thinking”. Basically, this is a tool to help you decide which tool to use. To use it, you identify your “Inventive Thinking Situation” from a selection of 9 or 10 common situations (the rows), then you look across that matrix rows for the best tools for your situation (in the columns). The cells are color coded, the darker the cell, the better that tool is for the Inventive Thinking Situation.
