BrainWriting 6-3-5: Excel File

This is an 11×17 Excel File that can be used for an in-person BrainWriting Activity. It has built-in instructions for conducting the BrainWriting Meeting. Each square is the approximate size of a 3×3 Sticky Note, which makes it easy to gather ideas and group them on a table or whiteboard after the Idea Generation Session. It has five rounds with three ideas per round. Customize the file to meet your needs. Some of our clients have laminated these so many teams can reuse them.

    1. ASSEMBLE a cross functional team.
    2. DEVELOP and refine a Problem Statement … “How might we …”
    3. DISTRIBUTE a 635 worksheet to each team member to START with.
    4. GENERATE (silently) 3 ideas for the Problem Statement.
    5. TRADE your worksheet with someone else.
    6. GENERATE 3 more ideas in next rounds.
    7. REPEAT steps 4 through 6 for 5 rounds.
    8. DEVELOP criteria for prioritizing ideas.
    9. PRIORITIZE Ideas/eliminate duplicates.
    10. DETERMINE and plan Next Steps.
