Searching “Inside the Box” for solutions
Everyone knows the martial arts guru Jackie Chan. He is a classic example of a master of the “Resources” in his environment – he uses everything in site to his advantage during a fight. Resources is a TRIZ (The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) method for dealing with technical and business challenges by searching from “inside the box” for “resource enabled” solutions to the problem to improve the Ideality of the system. Six Resource categories should be considered to minimize the waste associated with overengineered solutions. This technique is used in Step 4 and Step 6 of our Systematic Innovation Process.
